Artwork Creation Manager (Pharma Packaging) | Basel | 12+ Months

For our client in Basel, we are looking for an experienced Artwork Creation Manager with a strong background in pharmaceutical packaging artwork creation, GMP-regulated environments, and graphic design for printed packaging materials.

The Role

As Artwork Creation Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and GMP-compliant creation, editing, verification, and finalization of artwork for printed packaging materials used globally. You will act as the key technical interface between internal stakeholders, CMOs, packaging sites, and external artwork service providers, ensuring high-quality delivery and compliance with Roche packaging standards.

This position is part of the Product Configuration & Execution Center of Excellence within Product & Supply Chain Management and plays a critical role in supporting global product packaging operations.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify PDFs for printed packaging materials including folding boxes, labels, foils, and leaflets
• Develop artwork for product launches, line extensions, and packaging updates
• Create and maintain graphical templates, die cuts, and artwork standards
• Manage content sheet creation within Esko WebCenter
• Upload and manage files within the PDF library
• Create and maintain text macros, databases, and automation scripts where applicable
• Finalize print-ready files and provide artwork packages to printing suppliers
• Perform GMP-compliant quality checks and proofreading activities
• Support complaint management and unplanned event investigations within QMS
• Maintain country-specific packaging requirements and graphic documentation
• Collaborate closely with Product Configuration Managers to ensure on-time delivery
• Act as primary contact for artwork-related support across internal and external stakeholders
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and vendor performance reviews
• Ensure full compliance with GMP requirements, packaging specifications, and corporate style guides

Your Profile

• Degree or qualification as Graphic Designer, Digital Media Designer, Print Media Designer, or similar
• 5-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical artwork creation, packaging, labeling, or graphic production
• Strong experience in GMP-regulated environments
• Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
• Hands-on experience with artwork verification tools such as GlobalVision, TVT, or Esko solutions
• Strong understanding of packaging artwork workflows, print production, and proofreading processes
• Experience working with CMOs, print suppliers, and external artwork agencies
• Fluent English communication skills
