Job description
Position: Clinical, Microbiome & Translational Research Scientist
Type: Contract
Compensation: $45 - $90/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week
Role Responsibilities
- Design and write challenging scientific problems in microbiome/metagenomics and related life sciences with verifiable solutions.
- Review and evaluate AI model outputs for scientific accuracy and depth of reasoning.
- Develop detailed rubrics and reference answers grounded in primary literature.
- Apply domain expertise in areas such as metagenomics, biomarker discovery, and precision medicine.
- Provide clear written explanations of reasoning for validation by other experts.
- Meet quality standards through iterative feedback and peer review.
Requirements
- PhD in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Epidemiology, or a related field.
- Hands-on research experience in an academic or industry lab.
- Professional written and spoken English proficiency (C1 or higher).
- Experience with microbiome tools like QIIME2, Kraken2, and MetaPhlAn.
- Programming skills in Python and/or R, and familiarity with workflow tools.
