About us:

Eisbach is a cutting-edge biotechnology company based in Munich, focused on the discovery and development of transformative drugs in oncology. Leveraging our unique insights into the activation mechanisms of targeted molecular machines, we're committed to creating safe and transformative medical solutions.

Position Overview:

To keep our preclinical and clinical programs moving at Biotech speed, we need a Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) professional who enjoys working hands on and taking full ownership in a fast-moving startup environment. This is a fully operational, hands-on role that combines medicinal chemistry for our preclinical programs with CMC for our clinical-stage program. You will work closely with our research team, Clinical Operations, Quality, and external CROs and CDMOs.

Field of Responsibilities:

  • Medicinal chemistry support for our preclinical programs, including de novo compound design and structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis
  • Planning and steering of chemistry CROs for compound synthesis, from design to delivery
  • Use of computational and molecular modelling tools to support compound design and prioritization
  • Full ownership of CMC activities for our clinical-stage small molecule program
  • Hands on management of external CDMOs and CROs, including scoping, contracts, budgets, timelines and delivery
  • Close steering of GMP manufacturing, including process development, scale-up and optimization
  • Review and interpretation of analytical methods, specifications, batch release data and stability programs
  • Review of batch records, deviations and change controls together with Quality Assurance
  • Planning and management of the clinical trial supply chain, including packaging, labeling, QP release and distribution of study drug to sites in the US and Europe
  • Preparation and review of CMC sections for regulatory submissions such as IND and IMPD
  • Ensuring compliance with GMP, ICH quality guidelines and regulatory requirements, and maintenance of CMC documentation and readiness for audits and inspections
  • Regular reporting of status, risks and options
  • Hands on support across teams when needed, contributing your expertise beyond medicinal chemistry and CMC in a collaborative startup environment where everyone helps to get things done

The Expertise You Bring

  • University degree (PhD or MSc) in organic or medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or a related field
  • Proven medicinal chemistry experience in small molecule drug discovery, including compound design and SAR
  • Experience in CMC for clinical-stage small molecule is a plus, ideally with 2–3 years or more in a biotech, pharma or CDMO setting
  • Previous experience with oral solid dosage forms and clinical trial supply is a plus
  • Strong understanding of GMP, ICH quality guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills, handling vendor budgets, contracts and timelines
  • Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility in a small team
  • Structured, reliable, and detail-oriented working style
  • Willingness to work fully on site, be an active part of the local team and travel occasionally
  • Very good English skills; German is a plus
