Job description
QSP Modeller – In Silico Clinical Trials
France | Full-time | Hybrid
Discover International is partnering with an innovative, fast-growing biotech specialising in in silico clinical trials. Our client builds multiscale mechanistic models that simulate diseases, treatments and clinical trials, helping pharma, biotech, academic and non-profit partners reduce risk and accelerate the development of new therapies.
Their multidisciplinary team brings together biologists, clinicians, mathematicians, data scientists and software engineers, working across oncology, cardiology, immunology, infectious and metabolic diseases. As a QSP Modeller, you'll play a central role in building the models that underpin their virtual trials, with a direct impact on the development of safer, more effective treatments.
What you'll be doing
- Building in silico disease and drug models, from literature review through to model development
- Calibrating models against extracted data and integrating them into larger, more comprehensive systems
- Running and analysing large-scale simulations on virtual populations to answer client questions
- Applying ODE, PDE and Monte Carlo methods, alongside machine learning, statistics and outlier detection
- Presenting results through scientific reports and client-facing presentations
- Contributing to the evolution of the company's simulation platform
- Taking part in regular project meetings, with opportunities for project management and client interaction
What we're looking for
- MSc, engineering degree or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Engineering or a related quantitative field
- Strong grounding in mathematical modelling and/or systems biology
- Knowledge of, or strong interest in, biology, biochemistry or pharmaceutical sciences
- Experience with at least one scientific programming language (e.g. Python, R)
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
- A collaborative, curious and proactive approach, with the ability to handle time-sensitive work
Nice to have
- Mechanistic modelling experience (QSP, PBPK/PD, systems biology)
- Experience with ODEs, PDEs, DDEs or agent-based modelling
- Understanding of clinical trials and drug development
- Familiarity with Unix, Git, bash, LaTeX/Markdown, or functional programming (e.g. Haskell)
- Interest in agentic AI tools for scientific work
What's on offer
- The chance to shape an emerging field at the intersection of maths, computing and biology
- A collaborative, supportive team culture with a strong focus on work-life balance
- Flexible working, including up to two days remote per week
- Regular social events and a range of company benefits
- Flexible start date
