Guided by our commitment to people, planet and animals, we are passionate about advancing veterinary care through quality, collaboration and purposeful innovation.

Bova UK is a manufacturer of veterinary medicines regulated by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD). Quality is at the heart of what we do, with a strong culture focused on maintaining high standards and working in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

Our people are central to our continued growth. We want individuals who take ownership of their role, bring forward new ideas and are motivated to learn and develop as the business evolves.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Quality Control Analyst to join our Quality Control team.

This is a hands-on laboratory role where you will play an important part in ensuring the quality of our veterinary medicines. You will carry out analytical testing of raw materials and finished products, interpret results and support a range of QC activities including method validation, stability studies, environmental monitoring and quality investigations.

You will be joining a growing business where you will have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, take ownership of your work and contribute ideas that help us continually improve the way we operate.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Quality Control Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine testing of raw materials and finished products using analytical techniques including HPLC, UV, FTIR, titration and GC, and interpreting the results generated.
  • Carrying out method validation, method transfer and method development, including HPLC methods, in accordance with relevant ICH, USP, EP, BP and other applicable guidelines.
  • Reviewing raw analytical data from routine testing, method validation and method transfer activities.
  • Supporting the maintenance and troubleshooting of HPLC systems and other laboratory equipment, including coordinating routine maintenance.
  • Performing and coordinating stability studies for new and existing products.
  • Supporting out-of-specification (OOS) and failure investigations and participating in CAPA activities.
  • Initiating, reviewing and assessing quality exception reports, change requests and complaints.
  • Sampling and testing raw materials and supporting their release for use in production.
  • Carrying out visual inspections of finished products, raw materials and consumables.
  • Performing environmental monitoring and supporting the preparation and trending of environmental monitoring data.
  • Reviewing batch documentation, Certificates of Analysis and other testing documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate product quality data, testing logs and other QC documentation.
  • Supporting the qualification of analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Working with contract laboratories to ensure samples are tested and results are received within required timescales.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities and identifying opportunities to improve quality processes.
  • Contributing to training activities and sharing knowledge across the team.

These activities reflect the QC, documentation and training responsibilities within the full role profile.

What We’re Looking For - Essential

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in a science-related discipline or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working within a cGMP/GLP-related environment.
  • Previous hands-on experience using analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry or FTIR.
  • An understanding of cGMP, ICH guidelines and quality assurance principles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Good numeracy, organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to follow detailed procedures and processes accurately.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to prioritise daily tasks and use your own initiative.
  • Good IT skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets and data entry.

These are identified as essential requirements within the role's person specification.

Desirable

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • A degree in Pharmaceutical Science or Analytical Chemistry.
  • Previous experience working within a QC function in a pharmaceutical or veterinary manufacturing facility or contract laboratory.
  • Experience performing finished product and raw material analysis independently using HPLC.
  • Experience in HPLC method validation, method transfer and method development.
  • Experience reviewing raw analytical data and interpreting results.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting HPLC systems and other laboratory equipment.
  • Experience handling OOS or failure investigations and completing CAPAs.
  • An understanding of Quality Management Systems, validation and qualification within a manufacturing environment.
  • An interest in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and veterinary medicines.

About You

You will be someone who is motivated, reliable, adaptable and organised, with a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.

You will be comfortable working in a busy laboratory environment, following detailed procedures and communicating confidently with colleagues across different areas of the business.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will take ownership of their role, continue to develop their knowledge and bring ideas that contribute to Bova’s continued growth and improvement.
